Illinois has a rich and infamous history of political corruption trials, but the trajectory of the case against Antoin “Tony” Rezko — a chief fundraiser for Gov. Rod Blagojevich — may be without parallel. According to the Chicago Trib:
“Boiled to its essence, the prosecution’s complex case against Rezko involves allegations that he and other insiders exploited their relationship with Blagojevich to seek millions of dollars in kickbacks from firms seeking state business or regulatory approval.
The case is attracting nationwide attention, in part because Rezko also befriended Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on his way up the political ladder and prosecutors have signaled that the U.S. senator’s name is likely to come up. Some cash Rezko allegedly obtained through shakedowns of state contractors ended up in Obama’s campaign coffers.”
Our friend, blogger MARATHON PUNDIT (John Ruberry of Illinois) has been following the story since its inception, and he joins us tonight to fill us in about Obama’s connection in this legal tangle. We’ll be keeping an eye on the returns as they come in from the Super Tuesday primaries in Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island.
Curtain rises as 9 p.m. Eastern. Chat room doors open right about then too. Thirdwavedave will be there to greet you.

We’re going back to class on Political Vindication Radio! Tonight Betsy Newmark of Betsyspage.blogspot.com is here - she’s an AP History and Government teacher in North Carolina who also runs a fantastic blog. There are a lot of Americans who are worried about the next generation, and we often hear about how bad our education system is. This is our chance to talk to someone standing in front of our kids, so we’ll ask her if we have good reason to be concerned! We’ll also be offering a little free education to our newest voters about what they ought to know before they enter the booth. Got any suggestions? Then call in and tell us!
In the second hour we all about the primaries in Texas and Ohio. If Hillary loses tomorrow we might all be looking at an Obama/McCain throw down in November! Can Obama win? Can America afford to train a leader in office? Is the world peaceful enough for us to take the next eight years off? Let’s talk American exceptionalism and American delirium tonight on Political Vindication Radio!
The show starts at 6pm PST, and the chatroom will be open 15 minutes prior to showtime! You can register here to get involved in the chatroom! See you there!
