Twin Sons Of Different Mothers

I suppose I might have seen this one coming if it had involved any political figure that actually matters (i.e. if I’d been interested enough to look for it).  Still, it does seem to be a match worthy of e-Harmony:

Direct-mail guru Richard A. Viguerie has announced the launch of a new Web site, www.UltimateRonPaul.com.

“I remain uncommitted to any of the Republican candidates,” Viguerie said, “but it is clear that Ron Paul is truly a principled conservative in the grand tradition of Robert Taft, Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan.”

Viguerie, the one-time ultimate right-wing purist and now just plain fringe crank, had more idiocy to utter, but quoting it here would be akin to sport fishing with power saws.  As has been observed at length elsewhere, Ron Paul’s is essentially an anti-war candidacy using the Constitution as a Speedo.  It has about as much intersection with “principled conservatism” as Michael Moore has with Deal-A-Meal.  Even the conflation of an isolationist (Taft) with a libertine Cold Warrior (Goldwater) and the, um, “total package” (Reagan) is indicative of the deterioration of Vigeuerie’s philosophical synapses, unless his is an evolutionary parallel, which would make his seating himself as judge of that process exquisitely comical.

But heavens, no, he’s not endorsing Ron Paul; just dragging him into the political backseat and having his way with him.  Rather like a common law marriage that never gets formalized.

If they ever do “tie the knot,” I sure hope Rudy Giuliani officiates at the ceremony.  That spectacle would belong on pay-per-view.

AN INSIDER’S LOOK AT THE CAMPAIGN, THE POLITICS, THE DIRT - tonight at 9 EST with Andrea

Sometimes things just fall right into your lap. It happened to me this afternoon.

I was lining up guests for Sunday night’s show. During a telephone conversation with the campaign chief of one of our presidential candidates, he dropped the name of a former US Senator who now makes his home in Florida. When I expressed an interest in interviewing him for the WDBO show, he gave me the Senator’s telephone number.

I followed up with a call and asked if he might be interested in appearing on the program. When he accepted my invitation, we chatted a while longer in sort of an informal and preliminary interview in preparation for Sunday night.

To say it was a fascinating phone conversation would be an understatement. In fact, there was so much insider political ground covered, I immediately invited him to join me on tonight’s radio webcast. He must have been enjoying the conversation as much as I was because he readily and enthusiastically agreed !

So tonight, we will be joined by former Republican US Senator Bob Smith, who has served in both the House and the Senate, representing the state of New Hampshire. Yes, the same state whose primary voters chose Her Royal Pantsuit and Sen. John McAmnesty

Sen. Smith has some very interesting observations about the current field of candidates, the primary and caucus process, the political landscape, and where all the bodies are buried.

And he’s willing to share it with us!

As a Vietnam veteran, Smith helped create, and served as vice-chairman of, the 1991–1993 Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs. Smith was reelected in 1996 and served until 2003. In his 1996 reelection campaign he defeated Democrat Dick Swett with 49% of the vote. Smith had established himself as the most conservative Senator from the Northeast, and Bill Clinton’s coattails nearly caused his defeat. The campaign’s most famous incident occurred on election night when several networks (most notably Dan Rather on CBS) claimed that Swett had won, and were then forced to admit their mistake later.

Don’t miss it — I’m guessing this will be an interesting program for all you political junkies, and anyone else who wants to know what’s cooking (or who’s cooking who) in the cloakrooms!

Political Vindication Radio Special Thursday Edition!

freespeechtakeitback.jpg

Today in a special Thursday edition of Political Vindication Radio we interview Paul Ray, known as Lionheart of the Lionheart blog. He’s been threatened with arrest by his government for writing on his blog about the dangers of Islamic extremism in England, and specifically in his hometown of Luton, where the planning of the 7/7 bombings took place. Today, the man who brought together the bombers for that attack walks free, but Lionheart is being charged with stirring up racial hatred by writing mean things about militant Muslims! It’s a mixed up world, where those who sound the clarion call are in danger of spending years in jail for raising their voices against the threats in their midst.

The example of the Danish Cartoons and its aftermath show us that governments often learn the wrong lessons to violent events. Muslims cried out that liberty must end where their sensitivities begin, that the cartoons offended laws set down by their prophet, and so such provocations work to incite them. They believe that the laws they must live by must be adhered to by all around them, regardless of their religiosity, to save Muslims from witnessing crime against Mohammed. Governments are increasingly agreeing with them, and insist that in order to protect the free they must restrict their freedom. Today we talk to a man condemned by militant Muslims and hunted by militant multiculturalists. If you support free speech, this is your chance to join us tonight in rebellion against the dhimmification of the Western World.

Show starts at 6pm Pacific time
