Swiftboat Vets Set the Record Straight Dec. 27 with Andrea on BTR at 9 p.m. EST
A SHOW YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS –
Scott Swett joins us to set the record straight about the Swiftboat Vets successful campaign to halt John “Le Fraude” Kerry’s bid for the White House.
When a blogger noticed the typefont that proved the documents were fake, other bloggers joined the investigation, and before the camera blinked, the reign of Dan Rather at CBS and the presidential candidacy of John Kerry were dirt in a dustpan.
Another group of patriots wielded the mighty broom that swept up the detritus — The Swiftboat Vets, who put aside their comforts to fight for our country one more time.
Their story is told in a new book not yet hitting the bookshelves — To Set The Record Straight, How Swift Boat Veterans, POWs and the New Media Defeated John Kerry, by Scott Swett and Tim Ziegler, with foreward written by John O’Neill.
Bruce Kesler at Democracy Project writes:
Not only will you learn the inside details of the only book – Unfit For Command — that ever decided a presidential election but, especially for those who have any doubts, you will learn about how the peoples’ democracy can still work in the United States.
For those inclined toward political science, the book is an important contribution to understanding how political mobilization actually works and to seeing how the major media lost its Delphic grip on America’s political fate to the remarkably democratic new media of the Internet. Vietnam veterans took it away.
Chapter 13 is excerpted at the book’s website.
We weren’t sure which chapter to make available online, but Dan Rather solved that problem. In his $70 million lawsuit against CBS News, Captain Dan insists that the forged National Guard documents that ended his career as a network anchor were genuine. He also charges CBS executives with conspiring with shadowy figures in the Bush Administration to make Rather the fall guy for the fiasco. Seriously.
For the real story, read CHAPTER 13: Rather’s Ruin and the Rise of the Pajamahadeen.
