Ed gives CNN too much credit
The tone of these questions was night and day different than the ones presented to the Democrats.
Most of these questions were desgined to trap the candidates into answers popular with the GOP base but not very popular with the country as a whole.
The Democratic questions were designed to get the candidate talking about the issues and drawing differences with other candidates.
There were also questions (as in the Dem debate) that were chosen to make segments of the GOP base look like idiots (Gun nuts, Jesus freaks, bible thumpers, etc).
