Note To Hugh

….Hewitt, that is, who spent a portion of his morning cherry-picking pro-Romney comments from around the right side of the blogosphere.

Thanks for the mention, Hugh, but I think you conflated fragments of at least three posts, only one of which was mine.

Just for the record, I said:

Romney in the crosshairs - lawncare crack was toe-curling.  Doing a good job of staying on his anti-amnesty/anti-sanctuary city message at Rudy’s expense.

I don’t know that his was the “best” answer on this topic; my point was that he didn’t get defensive and stayed on-message.

I can’t help noticing that the Commodore missed this observation:

Romney: the “Surge” is apparently working?  He’s sounding like he’s saying, “Let’s declare victory and go home”.  Only difference with the Dems is he’s not saying the “Surge” has nothing to do with it.

McCain: “The Surge is working”.  Romney sliding off the rails on huge issue, and Sailor is scoring just as big.

If as anti-McCain a guy as I am is cheering Sailor on, you know Mitt stepped in it up to his armpits.

Romney lost that debate in the only way that matters: he said something stupid that feeds right into his opponent’s hostile template of him.  Hedging on the Surge is the soundbite that will linger from last night, and Ready Freddie stands to be the biggest beneficiary of it.

Anybody care to wager on whether Double-H quotes from this post?

UPDATE: Wow, THIS didn’t take long….
