OF PREACHERS AND PRESIDENTS - REV. BILLY GRAHAM - HIS LIFE - TONIGHT AT 9 ON “A CONVERSATION WITH ANDREA AND…”

Eighty-eight year old evangelist Billy Graham is in a North Carolina hospital today, in fair condition recovering from an intestinal bleed. Graham suffers from a variety of ailments, including Parkinson’s disease and age-related macular degeneration, and has been largely confined to his western North Carolina home in recent years. His wife, Ruth Bell Graham, died in June following a following a lengthy illness.

Tonight we’ll take a look at the life of the man whose ministry helped shape our nation with Nancy Gibbs, co-author of the new book “THE PREACHER AND THE PRESIDENTS: BILLY GRAHAM IN THE WHITE HOUSE”.

The Rev. Graham’s access to the presidents of the United States is unparalled. No other man or woman was in a position to see the presidents, and the presidency so intimately over five decades.

Presidents called Graham in for photo ops. They called for comfort. They asked about death and salvation; about sin, and forgiveness. And they called him for political advice, too. With that came an almost unbearable temptation: how far could a pastor go to help a friend — and not become part of the political game?

The Preacher and the Presidents is meticulously researched. Gibbs and co author Michael Duffy spent two years researching and interviewing Billy Graham, Presidents Ford, Carter, George H. W. Bush and Clinton, and many of their aides and family members.

Robert Spencer visits with Atlas Shrugs and with Fausta!

Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch will join Siggy and I this Wednesday at noon for a special podcast.

Robert will be talking about his new book, Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn’t

I read the book over the weekend and highly recommend it. Western civlization stands on Judeo-Christian values, and both are worth defending - his book explains why.

Tomorrow at noon Robert will be podcasting with Pamela of Atlas Shrugs.

Don’t miss either podcast!

Friday Hard Starboard Recap

The Washington Post took another roundhouse swing at Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and whiffed again.

The lesson of the Jose Padilla case and conviction is not the one conventional “wisdom” insists.  Failure to learn what the lesson really is will give his fellow jihadis needless additional, and better, opportunities to succeed where he failed.

And the prelude to my Saturday overtime segment, a trip through the Libosphere.
