The Leftist Confederacy
First question - where is Ezra Klein?
The news is out - Scott Beauchamp has declared himself a liar and a traitor. He admitted to lying about scenes that he wrote out for The New Republic detailing atrocious acts by war ravaged soldiers. He is a traitor because he took the honor of the soldiers around him and sold it for personal fame and international shame. And never doubt he meant to shame the military he was in - a double agent of sorts was he - dressed in fatigues so he could better mock the men and women around him.
But he is not alone - the left has a disturbing record of offering for the anti-war movement frauds and cowards - most of them earning their uniforms through the thrift store check out line. Remember Jimmy Massey? He wrote a book detailing American atrocities, replete with stories about trailers stuffed with Iraqi civilians and children murdered execution style. Journalists lapped it up, and America’s reputation was bloodied with unabashed glee replacing journalistic integrity. By the time he was proven to be a liar so much damage had already been done.
But then Cindy Sheehan arrived - prostituting the heroism of her son for ideological fame and ill fortune. Standing by her was special forces hero turned war protester Jesse Macbeth. He had come out with a movie that would “change your life.” The bodies piled up, a trail of blood leading to American boots and the senseless militarism that drove them. He stood on stage tearfully recounting the horrors he participated in, murdering and raping.
The left just knows that America is the villain in this otherwise peaceful world - look at the way they are framing the tragedy of Pat Tillman. They see no lunacy in the concept that George Bush would want to execute a man who might have a different opinion about the war than him. They assign the most depraved of motives to their ideological enemies, that’s why it was so easy for them to believe every one of these frauds. They want it to be true - they need it to be true.
But they can believe it all they want. All that can really be proven is that the left has become synonymous with fraud.
Ezra Klein - where are you?

EXTRA: Andrew Sullivan wrote on July 27 “First-person war-stories are always hard to verify beyond a shadow of a doubt, no? But if Malkin can’t dredge up something and fling it by now, no one can.”

To: VetPax@yahoogroups.com, vfptalk@yahoogroups.com
On Sunday Morning, August 5th, @ the Chicago Daily KOS “Bloggers” Convention, The Center for Media and Democracy hosted a Forum of Iraq Vets.
The event showcased a few of IVAW’s leaders, to let the International collection of Bloggers know that the Pulitzer Prize quality Iraq War material that Chris Hedges put together for The Nation can be replicated and improved upon by scores of Blogs, around the world.
IVAW is chock full of fabulous women and men who can present outstanding narratives to counter the right wing-nuts’ echo chamber. Garrett, Aaron & Josh pounded that message home, to the Blog writers who have been the driving force of honest reporting, and selfless opinion.
The event has begun to stir what can only be a healthy discussion and debate about the Netroots, its relationship to the Democratic Party, and the horrific quagmire that is the U.S. occupation of Iraq.
From Right, to Left: Garrett Reppenhagen, Chair of IVAW, Aaron Hughes, Prez, Illinois Chapter, and Josh Lansdale, Vet Coordinator of Illinois Chapter of Iraq Summer
Here’s an incomplete & hardly edited video, demonstrating what these Warriors & IVAW are about:

On the previous day, at the VietNam Veterans Against the War 40th Anniversary, the above 3 panel members were joined by D.C. Chapter Prez Geoff Millard, Combat Medics Eugene Cherry and Charley Anderson, and Staff Sgt Jimmy Massey, and all 7 Iraq Vets preached to the VVAW choir the latest strategies, and honed missions of IVAW.
A great friend, host, and sponsor of IVAW also had a Forum at the Yearly KOS Convention:
Malik Rahim, the Founder, and Executive Director of New Orleans’ Common Ground Hurricane Relief & Rebuilding Center, spoke at another panel in the Hyatt Regency, McCormack Center.
Malik, a Black Panther, VFP, & VVAW Vet, hosted about 50 IVAW members who were on the 300 person march we made from Mobile, Alabama, thru the Katrina ravaged Gulf Crescent, all the way to New Orleans. IVAW members have made numerous reconstruction pilgrimages back to the Slidell-New Orleans area, in the aftermath.

More examples of uber-liberals not admitting they were wrong. Very pathetic.

Dear Mr. Morrissey: As of 2:32 PM Eastern time, TNR is doubling down still more, viz:
“A STATEMENT ON SCOTT THOMAS BEAUCHAMP:
We’ve talked to military personnel directly involved in the events that Scott Thomas Beauchamp described, and they corroborated his account as detailed in our statement. When we called Army spokesman Major Steven F. Lamb and asked about an anonymously sourced allegation that Beauchamp had recanted his articles in a sworn statement, he told us, “I have no knowledge of that.” He added, “If someone is speaking anonymously [to The Weekly Standard], they are on their own.” When we pressed Lamb for details on the Army investigation, he told us, “We don’t go into the details of how we conduct our investigations.”
–The Editors”
My God. All I can say is, the gophers in China better watch out, because TNR is outworking them in hole digging by about a trillion to one.
I’d invite every reader here to go to Andrew Sullivan’s blog to the 10 July 3:07 PM entry, here:
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2007/07/email-from-the-.html
Read it, compare it to the Beauchamp bunk, and see if you agree with me that Mr. Sullivan knows more about the Beauchamp affair than he has let on.
Sincerely yours,
Gregory Koster
