Friday Hard Starboard Recap

All Democrats, all the time:

The nation’s defense against more 9/11’s rests on the shoulders of….Nancy Pelosi. Wow, I feel MUCH more secure, don’t YOU?

Scott Thomas Thomas Scott Beauchamp and Frankie Foer may want to hold off on celebrating their neo-Winter Soldier Pulitzer; “The Thomas Diaries” are turning out to make even the young John Kerry sound almost like Thomas Paine - but to a very receptive audience.

And House Dems have become so adept at manufacturing votes and the chronicling of the “tweaked” outcomes therein that they don’t even need hanging chads anymore - though the strategically malfunctioning vote-counting machines are a nice touch.

This week in Fausta’s BTR:

In last Monday’s podcast Gates of Vienna’s Dymphna and Baron Bodissey, Siggy and I discussed immigration,

Baron Bodissey: “We have a problem that law is not enforced, and our president and our own administration have made wanting to enforce the law a symptom of bigotry, racism, and unkindness and lack of compassion”

We also discussed France’s nuclear deal with Libya, the EU, and anti-Americanism, and you must listen to the rest of the podcast. As a follow-up, during the week Sigmund Carl and Alfred posted about a Gates of Vienna’s commenter on the subject of the EU’s constituion.

It is a privilege to have these conversations with Dymphna, Siggy and the Baron, and I look forward to having one of these podcasts every month.

On a related subject, Siggy once said,

For every prayer that is extended our way when most needed, there are an equal numbers of prayers that we must extend because those prayers are needed.

Dymphna is recovering from shoulder surgery and I invite all my visitors to pray for her speedy and complete recovery.

Next Monday, August 6 my guest will be the excellent Captain Ed Morrissey

I have been reading daily Captain’s Quarters for years and it was a real thrill to meet Ed last March (that’s my hand over his shoulder). Ed’s the podfather of BTR political podcasts and it’s a real pleasure to talk to him. Don’t miss the podcast Monday August 6 at noon Eastern time.

Embedded With Operation Pakistani Insanity

Oh, Jenber and I will be knocking around Barack Obama’s idea of foreign policy machismo, alright.  Also whatever of the Democrats’ congressional antics - from phony earmark non-reform to “Surge” denial and FISA obstructionism to last night’s “parliamentary creativity” - can be crammed into just under sixty minutes.

Thursday Hard Starboard Recap

First, there was Sir Loin of Beef; then came Sir Ossis of Liver (Now a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts); following him rumbled Sir Cumfrence of Obesity; and in that ample wake comes Sir Elton of John.  Technogeeks beware.

In a better political landscape than this one, Dick Cheney would be our next president.  A pathetic commentary on how a comparitive garden has decayed into a landfill in the space of nine months, isn’t it?

When it comes to blaming George Bush, for the Democrats there’s no such thing as a bridge too far.

And Mitch McConnell has done it again, and this time Judge Leslie Southwick is the big beneficiary - for now, anyway.
