WITH ANDREA SHEA KING TONIGHT - BILL ROGGIO, EMBED

Bill Roggio’s extensive experience as an embed reporter in Iraq and Afghanistan has brought us a unique perspective of the Long War that you’re not likely to see or read in the mainstream media. He posts at his website The Fourth Rail.

Tonight he joins me to bring us up to date about the situation in Iraq, including the surge, Operation Phantom Thunder, operations against the Mahdi Army and al Qaeda’s networks, and the political situation in the U.S. with respect to Iraq.

Bill served in the U.S. Army as a signalman and infantryman from March 1991 to December 1995 and in the New Jersey National Guard from January 1995 to March 1997. He currently writes at his web log, The Fourth Rail. His articles have been published in The Weekly Standard, The National Review, The New York Post, Die Weltwoche and the The Toronto Times. Bill’s embed in Iraq was also the topic of discussion at the Washington Post.

Weekend Hard Starboard Recap

When it comes to the Middle East, U.S. foreign policymakers evidently will never, EVER learn that there’s no such thing as a “peace-loving terrorist”.  Kind of like Democrats will never, EVER stop being paranoid about Dick Cheney.

We’ll never accept reality about the Iranian mullahgarchy, either.  A pity we can’t all be Australians now.

At this point on Saturday I was just about bummed out.  And that was before I did a little figuring and concluded that the immigration amnesty bill v. 2.0 is probably going to pass the Senate (Though I understand there still is some lingering doubt about it).

But Jen lifted the gloom some by coming out the other side of jury duty and paying fresh tribute to our soldiers overseas, doing their heroic, and appallingly thankless, job above and beyond the call.
