FLORIDA’S GOVERNOR GOES ENVIRO WITH THE TERMINATOR

In today’s mail comes a big hurrah from the guv’nah’s office heralding the good news!

Our industrious professional politician Charlie Crist happily tells us that Arnold Schwarzenegger, eco-governor of the most environmentally sensitive state, is his new best friend. The California terminator of limited government will deliver the keynote speech at Florida’s global climate change summit.

Florida’s global climate change summit??? Please…

“At Florida’s climate change summit, we will begin working on a plan to explore groundbreaking technologies and strategies that will place our state at the forefront of the growing worldwide movement to reduce greenhouse gases. [… ] one of the biggest problem facing our nation and world: global climate change […] States cannot wait any longer; we must take action.”

Aark, Chicken Little! The sky is falling!!! Crist issues dire warning that Florida’s 1200 miles of coastline are more vulnerable to rising ocean levels and violent weather patterns than any other state.

Sea levels have been rising since the end of the last ice age which is over 10,000 years ago, according to Christopher Horner, Senior Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism. Horner was my guest Monday evening on BlogTalkRadio.

Horner says recent studies show the environment is actually flourishing. “Environmentalists throughout modern history have instilled fear over one looming “crisis” or another, with the aim of increasing government control over things big and small.

“The myth of massive sea level rising scares people in Florida, resulting in an agenda that’s always the same — a series of policy agenda items come true.

“The environmentalist movement is not a grassroots phenomenon driven by scruffy idealists but an elite-driven movement that lards the coffers of pressure campaigns with wealth — commonly inherited, often corporate, and far too frequently looted from the taxpayer.”

And guess who’s footing the bill to support the budgets for these environmental pressure groups? You and me, baby. Through taxpayer-funded grants for public “education” and congressional schemes designed to subsidize the greens’ lawyers.

Reid Bryson, the father of scientific climatology, considers global warming a bunch of hooey.

“The ‘Little Ice Age’ was driven by volcanic activity,” Bryson said. “There’s no question the earth has been warming. It’s coming out of the Little Ice Age. However, there’s no credible evidence that it is due to mankind and carbon dioxide. We’ve been coming out of a Little Ice Age for 300 years. We have not been making very much carbon dioxide for 300 years. It’s been warming up for a long time.”

In a published article, Bryson was asked “if global warming isn’t such a burning issue, why are thousands of scientists so concerned about it?” Bryson shot back “Why are so many thousands NOT concerned about it?”

“There is a lot of money to be made in this,” Bryson said. “If you want to be an eminent scientist you have to have a lot of grad students and a lot of grants. You can’t get grants unless you say, ‘Oh global warming, yes, yes, carbon dioxide’.”

Global warming? Maybe. But are humans the cause? Prove it, guv’nah.
