The man who walked away with the Oscar at tonight’s debate wasn’t even there… he was puffing on a big ol’ cigar in a 30 second clip that hit the blogosphere like a Florida wildfire. Smoke and all.
Fred Thompson walked away with it. No competition. Lah-di-dah.
Hey, if you got ‘em, smoke ‘em…. and Fred’s got ‘em.

When Huckabee made his “John Edwards in a beauty shop” joke, it was the best part of the debate. Okay, maybe that’s a little drastic. Duncan Hunter clearly came across as the most solid, most conservative, and best candidate for the Republican Party. His stance on the illegal immigration issue was the strongest. Rudy’s stance on the war in Iraq was supported by his experience, and his liberal positions on social issues may not matter if the voter zeroes in on the war on terror, but for some those liberal stances on abortion, gay rights and gun control may make him unelectable by some. McCain and Romney provided action attacking each other, and that made for some fun. Romney sounded strong on the issues, and conservative for the most part, but can his history of changing his mind be trusted? Huckabee and Hunter were the clear winners, wit Rudy Guiliani close behind. Ron Paul was the idiotic loser.

Brownback just walked on the set. “Abortion position tells a lot about you”.
Calls it a “deal breaker”.

Ok, so not so hot on my pregame.
But I’m not deferring to Guilliani, the “A” question is still the definitive and he did not do well on that.
But you can bet his righteous anger on Paul will make a great campaign video.

with a good point on the missile destroyers.
I so wish he’d had more camera time, though.

Not only based on his retort to Paul. His answers had a flow to them that was missing last week. Ive actually become more impressed with Rudy tonight.
McCain - better but no cigar.
Romney - didn’t hurt himself but definitely didn’t win.

And honestly, I think he’s the only candidate at this point who has a freaking clue about China.

If Chris Wallace thinks Paul would be in that country club, Chris needs to get out to the country club more often.

How is it that we’re all told not to see color, and then they point it out? Come on. Stupidity personified.
