FUMING. JUST FUMING.
Sad news today from the war front. Four of our soldiers killed and another three missing. God help them and their loved ones who are no doubt sick with worry over their fate.
So difficult to find the right words to describe my utter disgust with the members of Congress — Democrats and Republicans both — who lack the courage and character to do the right thing and give this war everything we have to smash the filthy snakes who hide under rocks and behind IEDs, who are insanely determined to achieve their vision — the destruction of the Great and Little Satans and western civilization. Almost impossible to find strong enough words to describe my contempt for Democrats and Republicans whose venal and relentless lust for power puts them squarely on the side of the enemy.
I don’t care what they say. They care not a whit for our security. Despite their self-serving protestations to the contrary, I don’t believe it. Their hearts are stone cold, feeling replaced by ambition as ruthless as al Qaeda.
It is with absolute frustration that I write this, compelled to vent my fury at those who have thrown in with the enemy. It’s taken the socialists among us five years, but they’ve succeeded in convincing 60% of our fellow countrymen this war we’re fighting against Islamofascism is wrong. The leftist media is running on all eight cylinders, pumping out propaganda to the useful idiots day after day. It’s a steady drumbeat repeated over again until the sheep idiots among us latch on like an infant to a teat. Tell a lie often enough and it becomes the truth. But want to bet most of them wouldn’t know what the Constitution contains? How many representatives there are in the House? Who the Senate Majority leader is? The Cabinet members or their Departments? Freaking ignoramuses, but they’ll answer poll questions like they think they know what’s going on…
The ignorant masses who have been massaged with these lies buy into what they’re being told. The New York Times and network mainstream propaganda machines have done their job along with the “progressive” socialists in Congress.
The result: Americans who, since 9/11 have been occupied in mundane day to day living, are now convinced that “Bush lied” and the war is being fought by evil capitalists (us) for monetary gain, and it’s time to “PULL OUT NOW”.
Millions of words have been written by those more eloquent and scholarly than me. And under calmer circumstances, I might try to emulate them. One other blogger has managed to find the words. But I am fuming, my thoughts in a jumble.
So I’ll let this statement from Sen. Joe Lieberman, the only thinking– and former — Democrat, say it:
“Only a couple of months ago, the Senate confirmed a new commander to implement a new strategy in Iraq, General David Petraeus. That new strategy is now being implemented, and it is achieving some encouraging, if early, signs of success. . . .
Yet, now many in Congress would pull the plug on this new strategy and thwart the work of our troops before they are given a fair chance to succeed. I am aware that public opinion has turned against the war in Iraq. . . .
But leadership requires sometimes that we defy public opinion if that is what is necessary to do what is right for our country. . . . Al Qaeda itself has declared Iraq to be the central front of their larger war against our way of life. . . .
Our judgment can be guided by the polls and we can withdraw in defeat. [But] no matter what we say, our enemy will know that America’s will has been broken by the barbarity of their bloodlust–the very barbarity we declare we are fighting, but from which we would actually be running.”
I am sick at today’s troop loss. Who knows how many more of our brave brothers, sons and husbands will be killed or kidnapped because the slime enemy is emboldened by its equally slimey counterpart enemy here in our Congress and the nation’s newsrooms?
For shame. For freaking crying shame.
Please say a prayer for our troops, and for their loved ones who sacrifice and await their safe return.

Andrea,
I share your anger.
Here is how today’s attack is being reported by CNN:
” American troops were on the hunt in a volatile region south of Baghdad for three members of a U.S.-led military patrol, who went missing after an insurgent attack Saturday that killed five others.
The U.S. military said attackers struck the team of seven U.S. soldiers and an Iraqi army interpreter. ”
And here, is how Bill Roggio at The Fourth Rail is reporting this attack:
” Al Qaeda in Iraq conducted a successful assault on U.S. Army forces in Mahmudiya. “This morning at 4:44 a.m. (0044 GMT) in Iraq, a coalition force team of eight soldiers (seven Americans and an Iraqi army interpreter), were attacked 12 miles west of Mahmudiya. As a result of this attack, five soldiers were killed in action and three are currently missing,” noted the Multinational Forces Iraq press release.
So, notice the difference?
CNN = “insurgent”
Bill Roggio = “Al Qaeda in Iraq”
This has been going on now for the past 2 years in Iraq reporting. The MSM and the POS Dems REFUSE to use the name of the enemy in Iraq, that of Al Qaeda. They refuse to use it because why? Because if they identify who is behind the attacks and the sectarian setups, the American people will NOT back their surrender policies.
If the American people realize that 85% of the attacks are by Al Qaeda…remember?? the folks who slammed planes into our buildings killing our innocents and innocence? The same guys who killed our sailors on the Cole?
I’ve had it with this illegitimate portrayal of the Iraqi War - if the American people were kept abreast truthfully of the role of Al Qaeda in Iraq in this war, the number of Americans supporting withdrawl from Iraq would be 30%, not 60%. Grow some ethics, CNN. Grow some character, Dems.

We have lost the Iraq War.
Petraeus’s letter has indicated as much.
We are throwing our own heroes in jail. We aren’t meant to win this war.
I am beginning to believe that the pinko liberals were right about one thing. This is a war for oil. Understand there were very good reason to go to war against Saddam, but unfortunately we didn’t go to war for those reasons. We went to war for oil, or to state it much more accurately, we went to war to fill the pockets of all those fat cat contractors now in Iraq.
War Profiteering isn’t new. We have seen it through every age in our county. What is new though is our politicians not allowing our troops to win wars. By new I mean pro-WWII. This has turned into another Vietnam.

Petraeus hasn’t spent even one HOUR in a battle.
He has gotten where he has through academic work and politics.
He is a politician in an uniform, that’s all.
And Bush is an evil man.
Do I believe we should have gone to Iraq, well perhaps, strategically I don’t know. But when we go to war we should go to win, and Petraeus’s letter indicates that we aren’t there to win.
This is another Vietnam. And just as in Vietnam the reason we lost was not because of our fighting men, but because of our politicians.
We are going to have to fix what is wrong at home before we will even be ALLOWED TO WIN abroad.
Since Petraeus’s letter indicates we will lose this war regardless of the number of troops or the amount of time we are there, then I am forced to say BRING THEM HOME NOW!

Scott - get a hold of yourself! Did you think this was going to be easy, routing out terrorists dressed as civilians, rarely getting as close as a car bomb to our soldiers? It’s a good thing you’re not in charge.
And quit the crap about a war for oil and profiteering - when I hear that I know you haven’t thought very hard about why were over there facing down Al Qaeda.
And whenever I see that a person can call Bush evil as irhabbists murder iraqis en masse, I can’t trust your ability to know the difference.
This war is about personalities for you, where profiteers and evil Chimpy McHaliburton are calling the shots. That’s disrespecting the issue - We invaded Iraq to oust a government friendly to terrorists (9/11 meant no more benefit of the doubt). We won the war, now we’re rebuilding what we’ve destroyed because we don’t want terrorists controlling that commodity (oil) and financing thier plots worldwide. Islamic extremism needs to be confronted over there and over here.
I want our soldiers home, too, but it makes no sense to argue why we went when we’re already there.

Bravo Andrea. You seem to have riled up those lefty handwringing trolls as evidenced by the whiny posts from “Scott” that followed. Nice job!
We can crawl away like worms in the face of islamic fascism (read Al Qaeda) or we can stand and fight. If we allow islamic fascists to control the oil in Iraq, they will use the money to fincance thier war against us. Without oil, the western world spins into a depression and then the lefty trolls will blame Bush for that as they call for war because they cant drive to Starbucks to sip their lactose free no foam lattes and read the NY Times.
The reason 60% of Americans are opposed to the war is becuause 90% of the media and 100% of the Democrat “leadership” are spoonfeeding us defeatist propaganda that Joseph Goebbels would admire for its audacity.
We are winning this war on the ground and losing it in the airwaves.

Scott: How do you know Petraus has not spent one hour in battle? What leftist propaganda machine spoonfed you that talking point? Might want to actually read his bio. What about your fellow Defeatocrats voting to approve Bush’s decision to send him (and his plan) to to assume command in Iraq? Please enlighten us…..

Andrea, Dear Heart:
Your fulminating is misplaced. Direct it at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with a barb or two left over for Donald Rumsfeld.
We are at a very sad juncture in Iraq right now not because of Congress but because this is the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time and was planned by arrogant idiots.
