What Will Blair’s Legacy Be?

Great topic to cover today, Fausta. I plan on listening in.

But what will Blair’s legacy be? He’s more popular here than he is in his own country. I think eventually, he will be seen as a strong leader who lived up to the best traditions of the Anglo-American alliance despite great cost to his personal and political standing. Whether that will be seen as a mistake or not is best left to future historians. However, his steadfast support for America as well as the unique personal relationship he forged with George Bush will not soon be forgotten in this country. And for that alone, he has made his mark on the history books.

I have some further thoughts on Blair’s passing the torch: Farewell and Adieu, Tony.

Of course he will be known as a duplicitious whore, but that is one for the history books, plus lets see ho wmuch money he makes from rethug “charities” in the coming year.

Pretty shallow, kid. Get a spellcheck and grow up a few years before you come back.

No argument. Such idiocy on the part of a very intelligent man who prior to his decision to keep such company was viewed as one of the more successful and popular Prime Ministers and yet ends his time in office exceedingly unpopular because of the company he’s kept, is bound to be a subject future historians will puzzle over.

Thank god Blair is going, and not a moment too soon. Between them, he and Bush have achieved the impossible: they have turned worldwide public sympathy for the US after 911 into worldwide contempt. Here in Britain we have for years known Blair to be an unprincipled, shallow liar. He desperately wants to be liked, but will be remembered as possibly the worst Prime Ministers in British history, more despised even than Margaret Thatcher.

    mbrlr,

Boy you nailed it on the head! I’m sure if Tony Blair had to do it all over again, in exchange for ending his stint as PM with glowing reviews and high popularity, he would have told Bush to take a hike, would have sidled up next to Chirac and joined the Union of Traders with Saddam Hussein. He could have embraced Sharia Law for Britain and of course, joined Putin in a concerted Rule by Polonium-210 !

Course, on the other hand…as Tony walks off into the sunset, perhaps he is more the kind of man that wants to spend his twilight years knowing he didn’t side with those that would gas Kurds. Perhaps he will rest easier knowing he’s not a puppet for George Soros, like you, mbrlr.

He’ll be forever known as the poodle who got fleas from lying down with the wrong dogs.
