George Tenet

Via Drudge:

“Tenet says to have the president base his entire decision to go to war on such a remark is unbelievable. “So a whole decision to go to war, when all of these other things have happened in the run-up to war? You make mobilization decisions, you’ve looked at war plans,” says Tenet. “I’ll never believe that what happened that day informed the president’s view or belief of the legitimacy or the timing of this war. Never!”

Tenet is going on 60 Minutes Sunday(gives you a clue on the overall tone of the book), yet Tenet smashes the sacred cow of liberal contention here about why we went to war.

For the longest time we’ve heard that the “Slam Dunk” comment WAS the primary reason Bush decided to go, yet Tenet’s assertion completely demolishes that amateurish and uniformed belief.

Might be the only bright spot in the book.

Sadly true. This tidbit, and Tenet’s contention that “advanced interrogation” was justified both by the situation and the results, will be lost in the MSM thunder about how Tenet calls Bush “dishonorable.”

The April 27 NYT story on Tenet’s book suggests that this wasn’t only a liberal sacred cow: ‘Mr. Tenet described with sarcasm watching an episode of “Meet the Press” last September in which Mr. Cheney twice referred to Mr. Tenet’s “slam dunk” remark as the basis for the decision to go to war.’

(Tenet refers to Cheney’s Sept 10, 2006 MtP appearance, in which he said that the “slam dunk” comment was the intelligence “based upon which we made a choice,” namely, the choice for war.)

Why does George Tent not tell us in his new book why when Khalid al-Mihdhar, Nawaf al-Hamzi and Selem al-Hazmi were photographed along with Khallad bin Attash, later found to be the mastermind of the Cole bombing, at the al-Qaeda planning meeting in Kuala Lumpur, held on January 5-8, 2000, and these photographs were given to Tenet and Black on January 9, 2000, this information was deliberately withheld from the FBI on 10 separate occasions that spanned over 21 months. This information was withheld from even the FBI Cole bombing investigators on five separate occasions making this a criminal conspiracy. This information was with held from the FBI after April 2001, when the CIA had received massive warning of a huge attack inside of the US that would kill thousands of Americans, and even after they knew Hazmi had entered the US and Mihdhar had a US visa, precursors for them to take part in this attack. The CIA clearly knew that keeping this information secret would make all but impossible for the FBI to prevent this horrific attack. see www.eventson911.com for more details on this.

Tenet’s new book is out and has one horrific new insight. The fact that when he set up the meeting on July 10, 2001 with Condi Rice at the White House, he told Condi Rice that he had spectacular new information on a massive attack inside of the US that would kill thousands on Americans. But on July 13, 2001, three days later, according to the FBI Inspector General’s report, CTC managers, (presumed to be Black and Tenet ?) tell Tom Wilshire, former deputy chief of the bin Laden unit at the CIA, that in spite of his request to transfer information to the FBI, he is forbidden from transferring over to the FBI the information the CIA has on Mihdhar, Hazmi, and Khallad, mastermind of the Cole bombing and the fact they were photographed together at the al Qaeda planning meeting in Kuala Lumpur and the fact that Hazmi was known to be in the US and Mihdhar was known to have a multi-entry visa for the US, precursors for them being a part of this huge attack. Had this information been transferred over the FBI the attacks on 9/11 would have been prevented. Maybe he should explain this, or perhaps main stream media could ask him why he did this and allowed 3000 innocent Americans be killed for no reason on 9/11. See www.eventson911.com for more details on this.
