Breakfast In Israel - Political Pistachio

Breakfast in Israel, and an interview with the editor of the book: Why We Left Islam.

My phone rang twice before I answered it. The “Caller ID” said unknown.

The voice on the other end seemed familiar, but I couldn’t place it. It sounded like a voice I had known my entire life, yet was somehow changed, distant, filled with new emotion.

Then it clicked in my brain. The person on the other end of the line was my mother — calling me from Israel just before her and dad go downstairs for breakfast.

Ten hours ahead, mom and dad were preparing for breakfast as I prepared for bed. Both voices were enthusiastic. Their trip to Israel is more than just a sight-seeing tour. As Christians, it is like going home. Mom described their first days in Jerusalem as emotional, spritual, and giving her a feeling of fullness.

Two weeks is the length of their tour. They are in Israel at the same time as President Bush, and informed me that Condi Rice is staying in the same hotel that they are. Mom recalled and told me about an amazing conversation with Jon Voight in the elevator of their hotel, and the powerful experience of praying at the wailing wall, with her hand pressed against it.

Mom and Dad also told me about meeting Israeli soldiers stationed near the Syrian border. Mom says she got a picture with one of the Israeli Defense Force troops, and will get it to me when she can.

In addition to their time in Israel, they are going to spend some time in the country of Jordan as well.

I have been many places, but Israel is not one I have visited yet. My mom urges me to go. She says, “I am unable to convey how wonderful it has been to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, to see the places He preached. You need to make this trip, Doug. You need to see Old Jerusalem before you see New Jerusalem in the near future. For a Christian, coming to Jerusalem is like coming home.”

Joel Richardson is the editor of the book, Why We Left Islam. The controversial new book is the first in America to feature an image of Muhammad on the cover and tell nearly two dozen horror stories of former Muslims. Political Pistachio Discusses Abortion

The Right To Know (Ultrasounds and Abortion)

Abortion is hardly a cut and dry issue. Pro-Life advocates are motivated by the belief that human personhood begins at conception, thus, an abortion murders a baby. Some Pro-lifers accept termination of a pregnancy in special cases, others do not. Pro-Abortion activists more often than not believe that human life becomes a “person” some time after conception, though few agree on the exact moment. Some supporters of abortion will tell you that life begins when the embryo’s heart begins beating, or when the fetus begins to look human, or when the child becomes sentient, or it has half emerged from the mother’s body, or is born, or is severed from its mother and is able to function independently. Therefore, those who support legalized abortion believe a woman should have the choice to abort the pregnancy prior to that time the fetus becomes a person. There is no single pro-life position and no single pro-abortion position. In fact, the only thing the two groups may have in common is the desire to see a reduction in the number of abortions performed.

To achieve a reduction in the number of abortions, many pro-lifers promote supporting services for women in crisis pregnancies. In addition to this, many pro-lifers also seek legal restrictions on abortion access. The group that calls themselves pro-choice most often states that a reduction of abortions performed can be achieved by promoting better comprehensive birth control education in schools, to women who are sexually active, and greater access to contraceptives.

Lost in the debate between the “Right To Life” and the “Right To Choose” is “The Right To Know.” After all, both groups agree that better education and learning as much knowledge as is available regarding abortion can assist a woman in better determining what she wants to do when faced with this very significant decision.

Chris Slattery, founder of Expectant Mother Care (also known as EMC Frontline Pregnancy Centers), has provided a new opportunity for knowledge in this debate. He believes a woman must be armed with all of the knowledge available before choosing to abort a pregnancy, including seeing an ultrasound of their unborn babies.

Chris Slattery joins Political Pistachio Radio tonight to discuss this seldom talked about opportunity that most abortion clinics refuse to discuss. Abortion clinics would prefer not to show ultrasounds to expectant mothers who have decided to put their unborn child through the physically painful procedure of abortion, and themselves through the emotionally painful procedure. But why would abortion clinics wish not to give women this additional opportunity for knowledge? The reason is simple, because seeing the ultrasounds changes the minds of previously abortion-minded women. What loving mother could possibly look her baby in the eyes and go through with the procedure of abortion that will affect her for a lifetime?

Join us tonight at 10:00 Eastern, or catch the archive later. Listeners are urged to call in and participate! Visit Political Pistachio Radio tonight for this powerful guest.

NORAD B-Day

[Little late getting this up]

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., May 13, 2008 – Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates saluted North American Aerospace Defense Command’s role as the guardian of North American skies at the organization’s 50th anniversary observance here last night.

NORAD, a U.S.-Canadian military organization, was established May 12, 1958, to defend North America from air and space threats.

“Both of our nations are dedicated to protecting North Americans from air attacks, and this institution remains a vital part of the defense of the continent,” Gates said during his address at NORAD’s Golden Jubilee Ball. (Continue reading…)

The March from Hell - Bataan tonight at 9 ET with Andrea

“With each painful mile of nonstop marching, the blazing sun’s heat, former battle injuries, malaria, dysentery, and constant whippings began to take their toll on the weakest marchers. Slowing down or stopping brought on savage beatings and worse — a bayonet.”

***

One of the most God-awful events of World War II was the Bataan Death March which took place in the Philippines in 1942. 75,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war were captured by the Japanese and forcibly transferred to prison camps.

Our men and the other prisoners suffered brutal physical abuse. Beheadings, cut throats and shootings were the more common and merciful actions — compared to bayonet stabbings, rapes, guttings (disembowelments), rifle butt beatings and no food or water while kept continually marching for nearly a week in tropical heat.

Japanese trucks drove over anyone who fell. Riders in vehicles would casually stick out a rifle bayonet and cut a string of throats in the lines of men marching alongside the road.

No one knows for sure how many men died on that road to hell. Some historians estimate between six and eleven thousand men died at the hands of their Japanese captors.

Master Sgt. Frank Lovato, 87, was one of the lucky ones who survived. His son, 60-year-old Francisco Lovato, wrote a book about his father’s ordeal. It’s titled, appropriately – “Survivor: An American Soldier’s heartfelt story of intense fighting, surrender and survival from Bataan to Nagasaki”.

Tonight Francisco joins us to talk about his father’s ordeal and the 4-day trek he himself made last week to commemorate his father’s death march.

We get underway TONIGHT at 9p ET on my nightly radio program. Get to it here.

Terror in Breslan, Russia & Searching for Real Men

Real Heroes, Real Men

Whether it’s freeing slaves in Sudan or racing to the terrorist attack in Beslan, Russia that left over 300 children dead as they began the 2004 school year, John Giduck and Special Forces Sergeant Major John A. Anderson, know all about commitment.

Co-authoring the newly released, “The Green Beret in You” with Anderson, Giduck follows up his first book about the Beslan school slaughter with a very powerful message about what it means to be a Green Beret and how those principles apply to everyday life.

In 2005, Giduck gave readers a look into the barbarism of modern warfare when he wrote about his experiences working with Russian Special Forces and meeting up with them again in Beslan during the 2004 siege. Here in America, both Giduck and Anderson believe we have headed down a dangerous road, where gender roles have been set aside, and American men have become a mere shadow of what men once were.

Giduck and Anderson were my guests tonight on Political Pistachio Radio. If you missed it, listen to the archived episode HERE.

Learn About The Terror Attack by Chechnyans in John Giduck’s Book: Terror at Beslan: A Russian Tragedy With Lessons for American Schools.

The Green Beret In You gives a powerful message about what it means to be a Green Beret-esque committed living into your life. Brad Thor says about the book, “The essential guide to manhood. If John Wayne had left a how-to manual on being a real man, this would be it.”

Genesis

Since I’m out of town this weekend and tomorrow’s best-of show ventures back into the mists of time to the very beginning, it seems fitting that I re-run the promo for that gala premier:

Today is has finally arrived. It’s finally here. The debut of the Hard Starboard Radio Network. Which for some reason isn’t mentioned in today’s “Heading Right lineup” list at the top of the page. Maybe you have to have done a show before that “little” promotional detail kicks in. Guess I’ll find out, huh?

Today I’ll be introducing myself, how I came to be a host on BTR, and up to three of my colleagues from RepublicanForum.com in what I envision as a weekly roundtable discussion of each week’s political and foreign policy events.

And, if I wind up flying solo (How’s that for truth in advertising?), I have some catching up to do on the ongoing Iranian crisis that bears some covering.

10AM Pacific time is the, um, time. This is the place.

As the late Freddie Miller used to say, “Beeee there!”

Well, I’ve been there just about every Saturday since and sometimes on Sunday, through podcast overtimes, technical difficulties, cutting-out cell phones and hiccupping Blog Talk Radio servers. Flying solo has become, as I ruefully anticipated, a far more regular format than I would have preferred. And Republicans have grown so pathetic that the Democrats will even survive attempted political suicide.

But I did gain….

….a devastatingly handsome icon. And it remains as true today as it was (almost) a year ago: Any show that includes a story about an anaconda trying to eat an alligator and exploding makes the cut in my book.

Live mayhem resumes next….

REAL MEN tonight at 9p ET with Andrea

LAST TUESDAY I WROTE ABOUT REAL MEN. Specifically about a post blogger Kim du Toit wrote in which he unloaded his frustration with today’s girly men, shaped by the last 40 years of feminism.

“We have become a nation of women.

It wasn’t always this way, of course. There was a time when men put their signatures to a document, knowing full well that this single act would result in their execution if captured, and in the forfeiture of their property to the State. Their wives and children would be turned out by the soldiers, and their farms and businesses most probably given to someone who didn’t sign the document.

There was a time when men went to their certain death, with expressions like “You all can go to hell. I’m going to Texas.” (Davy Crockett, to the House of Representatives, before going to the Alamo.)

There was a time when men went to war, sometimes against their own families, so that other men could be free. And there was a time when men went to war because we recognized evil when we saw it, and knew that it had to be stamped out. “

Tonight on my radio program — a look at the manhood crisis with Tarek Saab, son of a working class Lebanese father and an American mother, who became the symbol of successful manhood after millions of Americans followed his fortunes on Donald Trump’s TV show “The Apprentice”.

Saab has been talking to young men and women across the country, and has now written about real men and the manhood crisis in his new book GUT CHECK: Confronting Love, Work & Manhood in Your Twenties.

Join us tonight at 9p ET for politics — with a masculine bent.

TONIGHT AT 9 - American Spectator’s Jim Antle with Andrea

Boy! After watching the returns come in last night, I thought for sure Her Royal Pantsuit was done.

She evidently doesn’t agree with my assessment. She was out there today in a bright red suit — that’s right, bright red, telling the rest of us that she’s heading to the White House and she needs our help. As determined as I’ve ever seen anyone be.

What a corker!

El Rushbo said today “The media are demanding that Hillary drop out to protect the Democrat Party and ensure Obama’s nomination. Mrs. Clinton is having none of it. She’s demanding that Michigan and Florida delegations be seated at the convention. She’s right. Her campaign is listening to me.”

Lots of good analysis and opinion pieces out there for your enjoyment and edification. A handy compendium can be found at RealClearPolitics, a great website for political junkies and other folks who want to know what’s going on beyond what they’re being fed by the “drive by’s”.

James Antle, associate editor and contributor to American Spectator has been a guest on our show several times. He has his view on what happened yesterday in the Indiana and North Carolina primaries and what lies ahead (can he predict?). Hillary. The Party. The Superdels’ dilemma. Jim joins us again tonight with his perspective on the most unbelievable campaign we’ve seen.

I invite you to join us in the conversation. The phone lines are always open for your comments — 646-478-4604. See you at 9p ET. Link here to get there.

No that is not supposed to raise questions, but God forbid there be a DEFENSIVE missile system near by. Or HIS talk of new Russisn missiles that can penetrate “any missile defense system.” Don’t worry about it at all!

GUILTY AS HELL, FREE AS A BIRD. IT’S A GREAT COUNTRY

OBAMA’S PAL BILL AYERS WIPES HIS SHOES ON OUR FLAG. And he did it while hangin’ with “LeBron, baby”.

The blog swarm began with Marathon Pundit’s post last night. Picked up by Michelle Malkin, it has gone viral. We’re kicking it up a notch with this post. TWD said he’d been waiting for a shoe to drop on Obama this weekend, causing Barack Hussein to stumble in the Indiana and N.C. primaries tomorrow. ThirdWaveDave had no idea how prophetic his instincts were. The shoe dropped, alright. Right on Old Glory.

The political bloggers are ALL OVER IT. Now let’s see how long it takes the mainstream media and the radio talkers to bring it forward to the rest of America. Barack’s buddy — still crapping on America.

It’ll be the topic of discussion on my show tonight. Douglas V. Gibbs joins me for the full hour before hosting his show immediately following (see post below). Doors open at 9p ET. “A Conversation with Andrea… on Blog Talk Radio”

Papa Korn on Political Pistachio Radio

Jonathan Davis, the lead singer of KORN, was born in Bakersfield, California. During his teenage years he recorded demos in his father’s studio. Later, he joined a band called Sex Art, Which also included Ryan Shuck (the guitarist of the current band Orgy). Sex Art was performing in a club one night when at the time L.A.P.D. was also performing which had James Shaffer and Brian Welch (Munky and Head of Korn) saw Jonathan Davis singing, and asked him to join their band Creep. After Jon got the job they later became Korn.

Jonathan’s father, Rick Davis, first worked in the music industry with Glenn Campbell. He spent several years working for and learning from Gary S. Paxton (Alley Oop - and many other hits - Gary has been a Christian producer since the 1970’s).

Rick Davis spent over 25 years in the music industry, touring, recording, managing, and then mentoring.

Rick’s very successful brother, Mike Davis, is the Senior VP of Entertainment for Universal Theme Parks, Japan, and he is a former VP of entertainment for Disney.

Rick Davis’ final tour was working for Ringo Starr on his 1989/90 All Star Band Tour.

Rick had a lifetime close working relationship with the late Buck Owens, operating Buck’s recording studio for 16 years.

Jonathan Davis is my second cousin (once removed?). Rick is my mom’s cousin. When Rick and Mike Davis were kids one of their strong musical influences was my grandfather. Grandpa loved gadgets and guitars, and he loved to show everyone how it all worked. Mike took to the guitar and musical side, and Rick was more into the gadgets. In the end, both brothers broke into the music industry, Mike as a singer, and Rick became involved in the production end of the industry.

I last spoke with Rick in person at my grandfather’s funeral years ago. Jonathan will always be to me that quiet little kid that I ignored at family get togethers. Little did I know that the young man that studied to be a mortician in college would be the front man for one of the biggest rock bands in history.

Recently, I was thinking about doing a show on my Political Pistachio Radio about how the music industry and world of politics affect each other. When the idea formulated in my mind, the first person I thought of to request as a knowledgeable guest regarding the subject was Rick Davis (Papa KORN).

So, Monday night, after my guest hosting on the Andrea Shea King show, Political Pistachio Radio’s guest is Rick Davis, the father of Jonathan Davis, to discuss how the music industry and the political cockroaches influence each other. Join us at 10:00 PM Eastern Time.

Playing With The Enemy

Gary W. Moore is a humble man, calm and friendly, happy to discuss the life of his father. After all, the tale of his father is larger than life, and a story we can learn from - because it is a tale about second chances, but second chances in a direction that we don’t always expect. Gary’s father, Gene Moore, began his journey to the pages of Playing With The Enemy as a 15 year old baseball prodigy that was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1940. The outbreak of World War II, however, demanded that the young phenom join the military. Gene Moore joined the United States Navy, and his tour began in North Africa where he played for the Navy baseball team to entertain the troops. The duty was not always easy, or away from danger, evidenced by the death of the center fielder when an explosion on the field took the young ballplayer’s life. Later, as the war effort concentrated more on the theater in Europe, Gene Moore was sent on a secret mission to guard German POWs in Louisiana. These prisoners were very special, however, and their capture was a secret to the outside world for a tremendous reason. The submarine these German sailors were the crew of was the U-505 (now on display in Chicago, Illinois at the Museum of Science and Industry), inside which the United States procured the Enigma Machine and all of the code books that went with it, enabling us to stay on top of the changes in the code, and therefore assisting us in winning the war against Germany. During this time that Gene Moore guarded these prisoners, primarily out of his desire to play baseball (and perhaps a little boredom), Gene Moore and his fellow military baseball players taught the enemy soldiers how to play America’s pastime. The story does not end there, however. Tragedy, and the storms of life that can crush dreams, and enable the birth of new ones, came to Gene Moore’s life. It was then that he learned about second chances, and the importance of the unexpected things in life. This inspirational true story is being made into a film by Producer Gerald R. Molen via his WhiteLight Entertainment production company. Molen’s and White Light Entertainment’s credits include Schindler’s List, Minority Report, Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Twister, Casper, Rain Man and The Flintstones. White Light Entertainment has to its credit 33 Academy Award nominations, 19 Academy Awards, including two for the best picture and a total box office collection of $4 billion from the 14 movies it has produced so far. The screenplay was written by WhiteLight director of development David Ranes and the author’s son, Toby Moore, who’s also set to portray his grandfather. The film is in production now and is slated to be released during the first quarter of 2009. I first met Gary W. Moore, the author of Playing With The Enemy, at a book signing in San Diego on October 1, 2006. A month later we got together in Pasadena, California after another book signing, and it was then that I realized I had made a wonderful friend. Since then, Gary W. Moore has appeared on my Political Pistachio Radio Show a number of times (April 7, 2007; June 16, 2007 with his publisher: Ted Savas; and January 26, 2008). And honestly, Playing With The Enemy is a great read, and a book that is not about World War II and Baseball as much as it is about the human spirit. As for the movie? Well, I hear there is going to be some great acting talents in the film, but the producer has not released the names, yet. However, when we know who those actors are that are in the film, you will find out about it on Political Pistachio, and of course at that time we will have Gary W. Moore return to Political Pistachio Radio to discuss the latest news regarding this blockbuster film. Also see Gary interviewed by CNN here, and the Fox affiliate in Milwaukee here.

And don’t forget to catch Political Pistachio on Blog Talk Radio nightly at www.blogtalkradio.com/politicalpistachio.

Trapped?

Just when Barack Hussein Obama thought things couldn’t get any worse after his drubbing at the hands of Hillary Rodham Clinton in Pennsylvania - the product of the lingering Wright effect and his “Bittergate” gaffe (aka the San Francisco treat) - La Clinton Nostra opens a talent agency subsidiary and (allegedly) signs up BO’s surrogate father for a whirlwind media tour.

The effect was immediate - Obama’s poll numbers headed south at a rapid clip.  So was Obama’s attempted solution - a presser where he made his latest attempt at “disavowing” the “retired” Calypso Louis groupie.

Did it work?  Only he….

….knows for sure.

Conservatism: Back To Basics

Back To Basics for the Republican Party

Among Conservatives the rumblings are constantly about how the Republican Party has left us, moving toward the left, using “Compassionate Conservatism” as an excuse to inject big government into the party. The Republican Party leadership is hardly conservative, and the current nomination for President of the United States, John McCain, is barely better than his two Democrat Party opponents.

The Republican Party has lost its way, and if it is not salvaged soon, the GOP will go the way of the Whigs.

A handbook for Republicans who feel in their heart that the basics of the Republican Party have been lost is on the bookshelves of bookstores today. Back to Basics for the Republican Party is a handbook for Republicans that explains how we need to return to our roots. The author of the book is Michael Zak.

Back to the Basics for the Republican Party is an acclaimed history of the Grand Ol’ Party from the civil rights perspective, as well as recognizing the founding principles of the United States. Michael Zak believes that we can benefit greatly from knowing and appreciating the Republican Party’s heritage.

Michael Zak is a popular speaker to Republican organizations around the country, and his book has been cited by Clarence Thomas in a Supreme Court decision. Hundreds of articles by Mr. Zak are available on the Grand Old Partison blog each day, celebrating 154 years of Republican heroes and heroics.

Tonight, Michael Zak is my guest on Political Pistachio Radio tonight at 10:00 PM Eastern Time.

The Obsolete Man

Living in the Twilight Zone

Golden Earring’s Chorus for The Twilight Zone goes as follows:

Now I’m steppin’ into the Twilight Zone
This is a madhouse
Feels like being home
My feet they can’t move
Under moon and star
Where am I to go now that I’ve gone too far

Now why, you may ask, am I bringing up that chorus and The Twilight Zone?

I am a huge Twilight Zone fan, catching old episodes whenever I can on the local independent television station. I will not be so arrogant to say that I have caught every episode in my lifetime, but I have seen a great many of them. A couple of nights ago I caught an episode that sent a chill down my spine. The episode of The Twilight Zone was “The Obsolete Man,” with Burgess Meredith (Watch the full episode here). The opening narration is as follows:

You walk into this room at your own risk, because it leads to the future; not a future that will be, but one that might be. This is not a new world: It is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advancements, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the super states that preceded it, it has one iron rule: Logic is an enemy, and truth is a menace. This is Mr. Romney Wordsworth, in his last forty-eight hours on Earth. He’s a citizen of the State, but will soon have to be eliminated, because he’s built out of flesh and because he has a mind. Mr. Romney Wordsworth, who will draw his last breaths in the Twilight Zone.

The main character, Romney Wordsworth (Burgess Meredith), is a person that has been found to be “obsolete” by The State because he is not needed by society anymore. And because he is guilty of the crime of being obsolete, he is prosecuted by The Chancellor, and is sentenced to death.

In his daily life Mr. Wordsworth is a carpenter. Secretly, he is a librarian, a practice that is punishable by death. Also, he believes in God, another crime punishable by death.

After his sentencing, Wordsworth is given the choice of method of execution. He requests, also, that he be allowed to not disclose his method of death, and for the execution to be broadcast live on television. The requests are honored, and Wordsworth is sentenced.

Note the name of the main character. Romney Wordsworth. Appropriate considering his hobby as a librarian. Also note this daytime occupation: Carpenter. Considering that Mr. Wordsworth in this episode of The Twilight Zone is a man of faith, the connection is obvious. And Mr. Wordsworth spends a large portion of his final moments reading from a Holy Bible which he retrieves from a hiding place (apparently the Bible is illegal as well).

As the episode proceeds, while Wordsworth’s final hours are broadcast live to the nation, the chancellor is invited by Wordsworth to come to his apartment (Wordsworth’s choice location for his death) for a short discussion. What the chancellor does not realize is Wordsworth ensures that the chancellor is locked in the room with him. Then Wordsworth reveals his choice method of execution, and this chosen method is by bomb, a device which has been hidden in the room and is set to go off when the clock reaches midnight.

Wordsworth is calm as death approaches, and his intention is to show the nation how a man of God faces death. As he reads verses from his Bible, he points out that the State will risk losing face by trying to rescue a high-ranking chancellor. As the time winds down, Wordsworth’s calm acceptance of death stands in sharp contrast with the chancellor’s increasing panic, and eventual outburst, “In the name of God, let me out!”

Wordsworth immediately obliges, saying, “Yes, chancellor, In the name of God, I will let you out.”

Wordsworth knows he is not obsolete as he dies. His personal freedom was not taken away from him by the totalitarian state, his faith was not rubbed out by the humanistic secular government. His faith in what was written in his Bible is what keeps him going, and he never becomes fearful as death approaches. As death approaches the main character remains firm in his convictions, while the chancellor who claimed all along to be protected by The State became fearful, and panicked.

In the final scene the chancellor, now stripped of his rank for his outcry to God, and his inability to hide his fear, is put on trial for none other than the crime of being obsolete.

The closing narration of The Obsolete Man is as follows:

The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete, but so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of man, that state is obsolete. A case to be filed under “M” for mankind—in the Twilight Zone.

How chilling is the parallels to today’s society. The liberal left desires that The State (big government) be all things to all people. They encourage dependency upon The State through entitlement programs while squashing faith and self-sufficience. Anything not in agreement with their agenda is suppressed (as Creationism is in academia, how discussions of faith are because the Christian faith refuses to accept homosexuality as a valid lifestyle, Pro-Family books and addresses because they defend the family unit). And as this agenda incrementally advances, eugenics peeks over the horizon, and the liberal left’s own green agendas stands in the way of their own supposed advancements and religion of saving the planet from ourselves.

How chilling is it that today’s society is hell-bent on eliminating God, eliminating faith, and suppressing scriptural teachings and values. The commonalities between The Obsolete Man and the path our society is on is chilling, indeed.

Also note the following: The Obsolete man aired during the second season of The Twilight Zone in 1961, two years before God/prayer was removed from the public school system by Abington Township School District v. Schempp, June 17, 1963, a case brought about by the activism of Madalyn Murray O’Hair, who founded the group American Atheists in 1963.

Standing Up For Jihadis

President-in-waiting Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a classic illustration of promising the ends while denying the means in part ‘cha of her O’Reilly Factor interview Thursday night.  Indeed, it appears to be the essence of her foreign policy vision:

Under aggressive questioning from host Bill O’Reilly, Senator Clinton played down some of the danger Iran poses, unless it becomes a nuclear power.

“I think [Iran] is [dangerous] in combination with the other threats we face,” she said. “Clearly if Iran were ever to obtain a nuclear weapon that would be unbelievably bad for us and the world and I’m going to do everything I can to prevent that from ever happening.”

Really, Senator?  You’re going to to EVERYTHING you can to prevent that from ever happening?  Including mililtary action?  Bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities?  An Iraq-style invasion to topple the mullahgarchy once and for all?  Pre-emptive nuclear strikes?  EVERYTHING???

Well, I guess it depends on the definition of the word “EVERYTHING”:

Noting that Iran wants the U.S. to pull its troops out of Iraq so Iran can dominate its neighbor, O’Reilly asked his guest how she planned to stop Iran, since she wants to withdraw our forces from Iraq.

Hillary responded with the standard Democratic Party claim that there can be no military victory in Iraq and that the Iraqis must now take charge of their own situation.

O’Reilly shot back that if Iran decides to dominate Iraq, oil and gas prices may double. Hillary simply answered, “We need to end the war in Iraq and win the war in Afghanistan.”

So much for denying Iran nuclear weapons.  So much also for winning the war in Afghanistan as well.  Which, of course, is the exact same war as in Iraq.  The Bush Administration may be only fighting half the war, but at least they’re trying to win the half they’re fighting.  The Empress would overtly quit half of that half, and implicitly jettison the other half of the half once quitting the first half of the half made winning the second half of the half untenable.  Kind of a perverse twist on the old “domino theory.”

Speaking post-scripturally of the second half of the half…:

The two then discussed the problems of Pakistan’s failure to stop the Taliban attacks launched from Pakistan, with Hillary advocating a diplomatic solution to the problem.

See above.  D’ya s’pose she’s triangulating off of Barack Hussein Obama’s bright idea from last summer of invading Pakistan if they don’t evict the Taliban from Wiziristan?  And with which party does she want to employ “diplomacy”?  We already have diplomatic relations with the Paks.  A 2009 summit meeting with Mullah Omar, perhaps?  I guess it depends on her definition of the word “winning”.

Turning to homeland security, Mrs. Clinton pre-emptively ruled out waterboarding despite the fact that (1) it is NOT “torture” and (2) it broke Khalid Sheik Mohammed and yielded intelligence that prevented numerous follow-up attacks after 9/11.  She doesn’t even concede the Jack Bauer/24 scenario where there’s a nuke planted in an unspecified American city and we’ve got the guy who planted it.  She’d sacrifice the lives of millions of innocent American civilians just to spare a few, or one, illegal enemy combantant some minor discomfort.

She’d also let Mexico passively overrun the continental United States.  But then all three of the Democrat (de jure and de facto) presidential candidates have all these stances more or less in common.

What strikes me about this Factor interview - other than the spectre of Hillary appearing on Fox - is the old trademark Hillary Clinton smugness.  She practically radiates supreme self-confidence, like the proverbial cat that swallowed the canary.  She didn’t look or sound rattled or “embattled,” as you might have expected given the crazed pro-Obama tilt of the Enemy Media and all the rumors alleging congressional super-duper delegates surreptitiously stampeding to BO.  She had the air of a candidate who knows that the fix is in and whose dreams of world domination are moving forward right on schedule.

Hillary Clinton is what Barack Obama will be after serving as her vice president for the next decade.  If any Democrats - particularly the superduperdelegates - are thinking on a time frame beyond next Tuesday, they would do well to keep that little piece of foresight in the front of their minds.  It could give their party a lock on power for the next generation.

Or until America collapses under the disasters their rule will precipitate, whichever comes first.

How To Spin An Ice Age

According to the global warming hoaxers, solar-induced global cooling is just a temporary respite from the man-made climactic frying pan (via HA):

Average temperatures in areas such as California and France may drop over the next ten years, influenced by colder flows in the North Atlantic, said a report today by the institution based in Kiel, Germany. Temperatures worldwide may stabilize in the period.

The study was based on sea-surface temperatures of currents that move heat around the world, and vary from decade to decade. This regional cooling effect may temporarily neutralize the long- term warming phenomenon caused by heat-trapping greenhouse gases building up around Earth, said Richard Wood, a research scientist at the Met Office Hadley Centre, a U.K. provider of environmental and weather-related services…

“If we don’t experience warming over the next ten years, it doesn’t mean that greenhouse-gas warming is not with us,” [Noel] Keenlyside said in an interview. “There can be natural fluctuations that may mask climate change in the short term.”…

“Natural variations over the next ten years might be heading in the cold direction,” Wood said. “If you run the model long enough, eventually global warming will win.”…

“We thought a lot about the way to present this because we don’t want it to be turned around in the wrong way,” Keenlyside said. “I hope it doesn’t become a message of Exxon Mobil and other skeptics.”

Oh, perish forbid, Dr. Keenlyside.  Let’s not let facts and the reality that the Sun has vastly more influence over our planet’s climate than poor ol’ homo sapiens conflict with your sacred, venerated “model”.  Why, that would be heresy, and the Goreacle would be most displeased at this breach of pagan neoBolshevik dogma.

On the other hand, it would afford Fat Albert a bigger carbon footprint….

COMIN’ HOME TO ROOST - Tonight at 9 ET with Andrea

[h/t S. Weasel] Well, it’s unlikely that Sen. Barack Obama will be observing Sunday service at Trinity United Church of Christ anytime soon. Proving that politics and religion do intersect.Liberals may try to banish religion behind a “wall of separation”, but controversy over Obama’s pastor proves its enduring political influence.

Tonight’s guest on my internet radio program is Tara Ross who, along with Joseph Smith, points out that Thomas Jefferson concocted the constitutional “wall” only to shield himself from criticism from religious leaders. George Washington — whose views on church and state differed markedly from Jefferson’s — offered a healthier and more realistic approach that we urgently need to rediscover.

In UNDER GOD: George Washington and the Question of Church and State, Ross and Smith reveal why Washington believed a self-governing society must not merely accommodate religion but encourage it, for health of the citizens and the state.

Join us tonight at 9 (immediately following Bill O’Reilly’s interview with Her Royal Pantsuit) on Blog Talk Radio.

It’s where it’s happening!

Barack. Tonight Stacy McCain of American Spectator with Andrea @ 9

Barack Obama has finally repudiated Wright’s racialized theology. Now can Obama win in November?

Joining us tonight — Robert Stacy McCain, contributing reporter to The American Spectator magazine, who says Barack Obama’s “hope for change” campaign could’ve been salvaged for the Democrats, but now finds his Rev. Wright crisis reminiscent of George McGovern’s fatal 1972 campaign.

On the next episode of Political Pistachio:

Alan Keyes - Genuine Reagan Republican

Alan Keyes served in the U.S. State Department during the Reagan years, ultimately appointed by President Ronald Reagan as Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations. He also served on the National Security Council staff.

A Constitutional scholar, Alan Keyes is a strict constructionist, believing the U.S. Constitution should be interpreted and applied as written - not as distorted by dictatorial courts or self-serving special interests.

Alan Keyes considers himself to be more than a mere economic conservative, or social conservative. He calls himself a “moral conservative” meaning that he sees both the economic and social concerns of America from a moral perspective. He believes that a moral perspective is necessary to govern wisely.

Mr. Keyes has become a respected voice in the non-liberal media, and will now join the new media as a guest on Political Pistachio Radio. He is our guest tonight at 10pm Eastern.

Good Lord.

“…while those who call me unpatriotic have used their positions of privilege to avoid military service while sending [standing applause] while sending over 4,000 American boys and girls of every race to die [dramatic pause] over a lie.”

“Louis Farrakhan is not my enemy. He did not put me in chains, he did not put me in slavery, and he didn’t make me this color.”

During this speech and questions and answers period he managed to not answer almost all questions on the basis that the person asking had not heard the entire sermon.

Then on the War note, “he lied they died” comes to the rescue.

So Farrakhan didn’t “put him in chains” or make him a slave I would like to know WHO did!?!? When was HE in chains? And on the color part he seems to be complaining about the color of his skin…I would have to say he has to go take that one up with GOD not the white man.

Is The U.S. Funding Terrorism? And what about Jimmy’s claim that Hamas only wants peace?

James Hutchins and the Jerusalem Connection

The United States provides assistance to the Palestinian Authority in the hopes of helping the people. However, there is evidence that this aid is not being used as the U.S. intends, but actually funds the Palestinian Authority with weapons, money, and training, meaning that the U.S. is actually funding terrorism. Israel is constantly bombarded by Hamas and Hezbollah, but former president Jimmy Carter claims that Hamas only wants peace. However, after denouncing the recent Israeli seminary school shooting, Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas’ official Palestinian Authority daily newspaper is holding the terrorist up as a hero, calling him a martyr who died while fighting jihad.

James Hutchens, PhD, a former U.S. Military Chaplain who retired with the rank of Brigadier General says that our aid to the Palestinians is in violation of our laws, and states that Jimmy Carter’s so-called peace-seeking friends have a charter calling for the total annihilation of Israel.

But why should we defend Israel? Why is our alliance with Israel so important?

James Hutchens is also the President of the JerUSAlem Connection, the foremost Christian Zionist magazine in America, and he is on a mission for Israel. He is on the battle front in the area of informing, educating, and activating America’s Christian community on issues related to Israel from a Biblical perspective. His military experience also makes him well acquainted with the concept of “Mission,” decorated with a Purple Heart as a result of his time as a battle chaplain in Viet Nam.

He joins us tonight on Political Pistachio Radio at 10pm Eastern Time. Please Join Us.

A Whole New Ball Game

Barack Hussein Obama’s six weeks of hell really did bury him in Pennsylvania.  Will that brick wall extend to Indiana and North Carolina?  As Bugs Bunny once said, “Mmmnnyeeeaah, could be.”  But those “experts” who already have Mrs. Clinton’s dreams of world domination in a lead-lined coffin buried under kilotons of concrete don’t want to hear it.

Plus selective technical difficulties, lots of bridging, and I….

….levitate alone.  But then, I’m used to that.

A year has gone by since the debut of Heading Right. With the never-ending primary for the Democrats, the conventions, and the race for the White House in the fall (not to mention a host of other blog-worthy happenings) it looks to be just as exciting for year two.

FORMER MUSLIMS SPEAK OUT- TONIGHT AT WITH ANDREA

“I still remember my sister’s black eyes; she stared at the sky while she was dug into the ground. She was wrapped in white sheets and her hands were tied to her body. She was buried up to her waist. The rabid mob circled her with stones in their hands and started throwing them at her while the roars of Allah-u-Akbar, Allah-u-Akbar added to their frenzy…” — Yagmur

Yagmur is one of the voices telling his story about why he left Islam.

The penalty for renouncing Islam is death, which makes the stories collected in Why We Left Islam — and the lives behind them — all the more remarkable.

Contained is the testimony of several brave men and who with an urgent truth that the mainstream media and cowed politicians won’t admit — that far from being a “religion of peace”, Islam is instead barbaric and repressive, a nightmare for those living under it and those seeking to confront it.

From an article in the NY Post:

If radical Muslims judge a book by its cover, there could be trouble next week when “Why We Left Islam: Former Muslims Speak Out” hits shelves.

WND Books has emblazoned a picture of the prophet Muhammed torn in half across the front of the book, written by British journalist Susan Crimp and Islam expert Joel Richardson, using a pseudonym because he already has a fatwa out against him.

Muslims rioted around the world after a Danish newspaper published a political cartoon making fun of Muhammed.

Islamists might not be too happy with the book’s contents, either. It’s filled with first-person stories of former radicals who began to question the Koran, Islam’s holy book, and who have changed their lives.

TONIGHT, JOEL RICHARDSON joins us on my internet radio program to talk about the stories, and how he and Susan Crimp came to know those who are daring to tell them.

Click this link to JOIN US TONIGHT AT 9 ET for a horrifyingly fascinating look at the oppression of Islam.

CENTCOM and Iraq.

If the reports are true the SECDEF will be recommending a new position for the above Person of the Year ‘07 (in my eyes). General Petraeus may take the reigns at CENTCOM for the departing Admiral Fallon. Lt. General Odierno would fill Petraeus’s boots leading the fight in Iraq.

Also for those engaged in the “war over lies” debates, I only post these for you to reference. Are they nukes? No. WMDs yes.

Questions, Questions

While I was busy painting and planting and generally getting ready for this week-end’s open house, I was paying attention to the news out of Pennsylvania. One comment from Barak Obama that struck me was a remark he made in response to the uproar over his remarks at the San Francisco fundraiser where he said that mid-staters “cling” to guns and religion and are bigots because they are bitter. His comment was how people would take one poorly word
